Babymetal is their own thing. Fans call them kawaii metal, cute metal, they call themselves a metal dance unit. They are not bound by genre; they play everything from black metal to pop. I saw them with Dethklok, a metalcore band, last year and of the two groups, Babymetal were the more brutal. And Momoko growls too - she added her growls to Kevin's in this song, hers are lower in pitch. Monochrome - Live PIA Arena would be a next song to check out, or Metali - Live would be another good choice. Both Babymetal and Electric Callboy have some of the best stage productions of touring bands today.

Babymetal is METAL (!), you will find out 😂, so is EC. And you are wrong. Babymetal is harder than EC! BUT both are so much fun. EC doing the Partycore-Metal, and Babymetal doing the combination of real heavy sound with the fantastic dance choreography. Love them both.

This song made me dive into Babymetal headfirst, been holding out to see if they were just a concept band failing to make an inprint at all, but here they are and I am all for it! (Loving anime for decades at this point the jump from those soundtracks ain't so long!). Also listened up on EC, they are so much fun and would make a party go wild =)

Wow, what a way to meet both groups! This is actually quite atypical for Babymetal--most of their stuff is much heavier, darker and epic. They have done shows in which the lead singer Su-Metal is crucified and reborn. Crazy shit. EC are the kings of silly metal but are deadly serious musicians. You will get tons of comments with suggestions from fans of both groups. For me this is the frontrunner for Song of the Year.

Congratiolations Bob you´ve found two huge rabbit holes. Have fun going down. For EC I would say start where the hype begins by "Hypa Hypa" and dont forget the "Hypa Hypa" colaboration videos with other bands like Saltatio Mortis or We butter the bread with butter. Babymetal is a great blend. They have metal music and pop music. They do have choreography on 95% of their songs. They are both around 14 years old (EC and BM). So BM has been killing it since the lead singer was 12 years old. BM has really blown up over 2023 and 2024. They fuse pop and metal fabulously. PIA arena 2023 performances of Megitsune, Monochrome, Road of Resistance are great. This was after a year long hiatus. Other performances are Yava 2021. Headbanger 2023. So BM is a Heavy Metal fusion with dance and pop. The girls are known as. Su-Metal / lead singer. Moametal / scream and dance, Yuimetal / scream and dance ( but left in 2018 due to health reasons and now Momometal / scream and dance. They invented this genre (Kawaii Metal or cute metal). Enjoy.

None of them id a dance group, but for Babymetal their dancing is essential. They were made to diversify zhe japanese metal industry and they originally were planned to get females into metal and then boys would follow. They made really a kind of metal that had significant female interest about 40% and they had a really diverse age from 5 to 85. But it didn't really confirm the simple calculatiobs that Koba originally had. They didn't attract children directly but a few teenagers Childten ocvured when the teenagers got parents. And they listened to Babymezal and when these parents wants to visit Babymetal the kids want to come too. But by default Babymetall can andvwill go harder than Electric Callboy . They were build to get through sny noise level metal instruments can produce. But Sus Voice goes through it like a hot knive goes through butter.

But when Suzuka became old enough to leave the idol project When they turn 16 Japan can no longer force Studenten to visit schools and so Amuse used this age as a Cut Off date. But Babymetal was already nig enough to interest Amuse. But when they made their first World Tour it grew incredibly. They became the international most successful japanese Band. There are some Groups and Artists that are bigger but only in Japan, while Babymetal earns most of their money outside of Japam. The japanes Metal industry is nowadays extremly diverse but compared to the international market tiny.

Baby metal will be in the eastern US this November. I’m seeing them in Indianapolis. You should check out Electric Callboy. They don’t take themselves too seriously but they do take their music seriously and fun.

Nice reaction. BabyMetal are musically one of the heaviest groups out there. They contrast this with the kawaii vocals and choreography which have always been part of their style since they started in 2010 when Su was12 and Yui & Moa 11; yes really. For a recent example of their style I'd suggest Monochrome live at PIA Arena 2023 or for older maybe the lives of Headbanger, Catch Me If You Can and Rondo Of Nightmare from the mid 2010s or the official MV for Megitsune.. If you're interested in their background and history then the Not So Extensive Guide To BabyMetal from April 2024 is a good place to start. I should warn you though that once you start to watch them you may find yourself falling down the foxhole like so many others 🦊

The overall style for this song is more Electric Callboy, despite the idea and impetus for the collab coming from Babymetal. Thats because Babymetal were trying to do a more upbeat and danceable track, in the Electric Callboy style, and were having trouble getting it to work, and so, reached out to EC. Babymetals style is all styles. Being Kawaii metal, which is a look and a vibe rather than a sound, they are free to embrace any particular musical style they like at any time.

Isn't it just the most fun ever? I'm seconding all the Electric Callboy suggestions, they're really something else. They are hard when needed, but then they also break into Disney songs when the mood strikes, so anything is possibe! (Proof is in the behind the scenes videos they keep posting. Such great guys.)

Babymetal == J-Pop/Metal fusion and Electric Callboy == EDM/MetalCore fusion. And it has been confirmed that one of the girls (MomoMetal) was contributing to the growling in the song as well.

BM is just too K-pop for me here. Nothing like their earlier, and imho, better songs. This entire song to me just drips “let’s get the K-pop fans”. Nothing wrong with that, but not a song I like from them.

This song is significantly more poppy than what Babymetal usually does. When it comes to the music, Babymetal is usually quite a bit heavier than EC.

BM is adept at a dizzying amount of metal subgenres. In fact, that's their calling card, along with being credited as the inventor of 'kawaii (cute) metal'. Then again, BM was 'more cute than metal' only during their teenage days (roughly 2010-2017/8). Which was chokeful of brilliant songs & jawdropping live performances, nonetheless. As they entered their 20s (2018/9 onwards), they became 'more metal than cute', i.e. still retaining their pop aesthetics, but also had genuine metal credibility (many legacy musicians defended them against snobs; rising bands befriended them & collaborated on songs). Performing live with the Kami band, they could crush out unmistakenably brutal headbangers like BxMxC & Divine Attack that are on par with Babymetal Death & Sis.Anger of their earlier era. More admirably, they are willing to (furiously) explore different music styles as they grew older, after being influenced by their foreign peers on the road & at music festivals. So if you're a fan of, say, Ratatata (electronicore) which is merely one month old, immense yourself & have fun, because BM is already moving on with Brand New Day (prog metal) this past week. Same thing happened last year, when Metali (groove metal) in August was superseded by Kingslayer (metalcore) at NEXT FEST in November, & subsequently by Leave It All Behind (Thai rap/rock hybrid) in March. Check out also their last two full albums (2019's Metal Galaxy & 2023's The Other One), which are stylistically different literally from song to song. Performing their new & old repertoire live, the BM girls are now older (mid-20s), knew how to pace themselves better, have become very seasoned (they played almost 100 shows in 2023 alone), their music having a more polished sheen, etc. but they remain the best live act on the planet.
